Sea of Suns is the solo project of musician Dave Panter, exploring the bright, nostalgic realms of synth‑pop, lounge, and downtempo music. Inspired by 1970s public information films and hazy childhood summer holidays, Dave’s work blends retro warmth with modern electronic experimentation.
His musical journey began in the DIY synth and computer‑music scenes of his school years. Limited resources didn’t dampen his enthusiasm; instead, they pushed him toward the bass guitar and the local indie band The Strand. As the 1990s came to a close, Dave returned to electronic music under the moniker Dumi, armed with an Akai sampler and a renewed creative spark. In the early 2000s, he joined the analogue‑synth collective WeirdGear, contributing to their 2007 Coffee Girl EP (recorded by the late John Hannon) and the album Aurora. After leaving the group in 2010, Dave continued refining his sound, eventually merging his early ambient‑techno experiments with the evocative, retro‑electronic textures that define Sea of Suns today. |
